AICHI “JAKE” The Japanese built 1,418 of these versatile floatplanes for use as reconnaissance scouts operating from cruisers and seaplane tenders. These scouts would be launched from a catapult aboard the ships, but could also take off and land on the water. This model has a clear “greenhouse” canopy, movable propeller and a pair of floats. The decal markings are typical of the Imperial Japanese Navy scouts in 1941.#14433 -1/144 Scale $8.99
KI-61 HIEN “TONY” When this fighter appeared in the Pacific skies, it was thought that it was a Japanese copy of the famous German Messer Schmitt Bf 109. In fact, it was powered by a version of the German DB-601, the type used in the Bf 109, but the plane itself was original and more efficient than the German plane. The Japanese name for the Ki-61 was”Swallow”, and this model reflects the clean lines of the original. #14432 -1/144 Scale $8.99
PBY-5A CATALINA Although the PBY was slow, with a cruising speed of 117 mph, it was one of the most valuable planes in the U.S. Navy. Nicknamed 'Dumbo', PBYs could patrol thousands of miles of ocean in search of downed crews and enemy shipping. Many daring rescues took place under enemy fire, but the PBY could also carry and deliver a devastating load of bombs, torpedoes and rockets. The markings are for a prewar patrol bomber and post war Search and Rescue plane. #14435 -1/144 Scale $21.99
AICHI GRACE The Aichi B7A1 Ryusei (Shooting Star) was the final carrier-borne attack bomber to enter the war. However, by the time it arrived, Japan had lost all its carriers and the new planes were restricted to land bases. The Allies code name Grace was assigned to the plane. The distinctive clear 'greenhouse' canopy and inverted gull wings are well depicted on this model. Decals provide the Japanese Hinomaru rising sun insignias. #14436 -1/144 $8.99
NAKAJIMA MYRT This torpedo bomber arrived on the war scene in 1944, too late to be of much value to the Imperial Japanese Navy. The delay was caused by problems with its 2,000 hp engine. In fact, the first operational models were actually prototypes, rushed into service to defend the Marianas Islands. Production models were able to out-run and out-climb many Allied fighters. This model reproduces the long, slim fuselage and the clear greenhouse type canopy. #14437 -1/144 Scale $8.99
MiG-25 FOXBAT The appearance of the MiG-25 stunned the Western world. Suddenly the Soviets had an interceptor equal to the finest in the world. All details of the huge fighter were carefully concealed by the Russians, but on Sept. 6, 1976, a defecting Russian pilot landed this technical marvel at a Japanese airfield and the plane yielded its secrets to the West. This model shows how big the Foxbat is. It comes with four AA-6 Acrid air-to-air missiles and Russian insignia decals. #14428 -1/144 Scale $9.99
MiG-23 FLOGGER With its variable-geometry, swing-wing configuration, the MiG-23 placed the Soviet’s air force on a par with the latest American fighters. Like the MiG-21 it replaced, this new Soviet fighter became an international success and was ordered by Syria, North Korea, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany. This model features the movable swing-wings, and detailed landing gear. In addition, there are two AA-2 Atoll air-to-air missiles and Soviet red star insignia.#14427 -1/144 Scale $9.99
F-104G STARFIGHTER When this sliver-like airplane was publicly revealed it
came with a window shattering sonic boom! This first double sonic
fighter, the F-104, could fly formation with the shell fired from a
16” naval gun, then accelerate away from it! The press called it
“a missile with a man in it”. You’ll call it
“cool” as you assemble the parts for this model. It comes
with a clear canopy, two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, wingtip and under
wing fuel tanks and markings for the Norwegian air force. #14429 - 1/144 Scale $9.99
